Brown Bag-Dr. Aaron Clark
Please join us for our next Brown Bag seminar on Wednesday, April 8, 2009. It will be held at the Friday Institute on NC State's Centennial Campus in the Collaboratory Commons. Refreshments will be available at 8:30AM and the seminar will begin at 9:00AM. Our presenter will be Dr. Aaron Clark, Associate Professor of Graphic Communications and Technology Education. His presentation is entitled New Initiatives in NC Career Technical Education and Projects in STEM Education.
This presentation will focus on research conducted for new projects that are currently underway at NC-DPI in Career Technical Education. Included projects are as follows: a new course that links algebra to virtual and physical modeling, new content in areas for scientific and technical visualization curricula, and finally, a new course offering titled Game Art and Design. These courses comprise a new STEM initiative that supports programs for at-risk students and other students not traditionally bound for college. Research findings, curricular objectives, and student examples will all be included in this presentation.
Aaron C. Clark is Associate Professor of Graphic Communications and Technology Education at NCSU He received his B.S. and M.S. in Technology and Technology Education and earned his doctoral degree in Technology Education. His teaching specialties are in visual theory, 3-D modeling, gaming, and technical animation. Research areas include graphics education, leadership, and scientific/technical visualization, STEM integration, and gaming, with publications in both technical/technology education and engineering education.
