Please join us for the next Brown Bag Seminar of the Fall semester. The seminar will be held on November 11, 2009 in the Collaboratory Commons at the Friday Institute on NC State's Centennial Campus. Refreshments will be served at 8:30am and the seminar will begin at 9:00am. Our guests will be Dr. Karen Hollebrands and Dr. Hollylynne Lee, Associate Professors in the Department of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education at NC State University. Their talk is entitled "Preparing Teachers of 21st Century Learners: Infusing Technology in Mathematics Instruction."
Technology is an integral part of the world in which we live. Teachers need to be prepared to incorporate technology in their teaching to ensure that students are ready for the challenges and careers they will encounter and pursue in the 21st century. The Preparing to Teach Mathematics with Technology project team is developing and assessing materials for preparing teachers to teach data analysis, probability, and geometry topics using a variety of different technology tools. Drs. Hollebrands and Lee will provide an overview of the project, and highlight sample activities.
Hollylynne Stohl Lee is an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education in the Department of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education at NC State.
