Senator Gladys Robinson

Senator Gladys Robinson is in her eighth term representing District 28 (Guilford) in the NC Senate. She serves as the Democratic Senate Caucus Chair and previously served as Deputy Minority Leader. She serves on the following committees: Health, Education/ Higher Education, Commerce, Appropriations on Health and Human Services, Appropriations Base Budget, Oversight Committee on Governmental Operations, Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services, and Finance. She served as chair of the NC Legislative Black Caucus Foundation and vice chair of the NC Legislative Black Caucus, and has held leadership roles with the Southern Regional Education Board, the UNC Board of Governors, and the Bennett College Board of Trustees. She is co-founder and co-chair of the HBCU Bipartisan/Bicameral Caucus. A retired community health executive, Senator Robinson brings 45 years of nonprofit leadership experience with expertise in aging, health, and education. She holds an undergraduate degree from Bennett College, a master’s degree in Education/ Counseling, and a doctorate in Interdisciplinary Leadership Studies from NC A&T State University.
