A product of Cumberland County Public Schools, Senator Jay Chaudhuri has a record of reaching across the aisle for students. He represents District 15 (Wake County) and has served as Senate Democratic Whip since 2019. He co-chairs the bipartisan Early Childhood Caucus and serves on Governor Stein’s Early Childhood Education Task Force. He helped make North Carolina one of only nine states to require a standalone personal finance course for graduation, passed landmark bipartisan legislation restricting cell phones in public schools and worked with colleagues to allow retired veteran teachers to return to high-needs classrooms without financial penalty.
