Maurice “Mo” Green

As North Carolina’s State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Dr. Maurice “Mo” Green is committed to ensuring all students in public schools have access to a high-quality education, and he strives to create a brighter future for students, educators and communities across the state. He has invested more than 20 years of his career in education in North Carolina, serving as a school district superintendent and deputy superintendent in two of the three largest districts in the state, as a chief executive for a large foundation that awards grants supporting public education and as a school board attorney. He is a double-degree graduate of Duke University, holding both a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics and a law degree.
