Lisa Godwin’s 29-year public education career includes roles as an instructional assistant, bus driver, classroom teacher and assistant principal; she currently serves as beginning teacher coach and mentor coordinator for Pender County Schools. She served on Governor Roy Cooper’s Teacher Advisory Committee and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction’s Teacher Leadership Council. She also served as a teacher advisor to the NC State Board of Education. She is a member of the NC Center for the Advancement of Teaching Board of Directors and serves on the Executive Committee for NC’s Network of State Teachers of the Year and the Advisory Board for the NC Education Corps. She was named the 2017 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Teacher of the Year and the 2018 North Carolina National Education Association’s Teacher of Excellence.
