Evaluation of The Rural Center’s Regional Training and Capacity-Building Program
Through funding from the Golden LEAF Foundation and in partnership with the Friday Institute, The Rural Center has launched the Northeastern NC Community Capacity Initiative. The initiative will build a diverse regional leadership team in the state’s Northeast Prosperity Zone and provide leadership training to cross-county project teams to identify untapped regional opportunities for economic growth and development.
The Rural Center’s capacity building program established a regional leadership team from agriculture, education, workforce development, infrastructure, health care and economic development, which participated in leadership training events in early 2018. To aid in project development, The Rural Center gathered and evaluated existing strategic plans to help leaders identify common needs and complete a gap analysis to uncover unmet needs and opportunities that exist. And finally, The Rural Center provided coaching and facilitated workshops to help participants vet project ideas and develop viable strategies to assist the region with pursuing available funding opportunities through Golden LEAF’s 2018-19 Northeast Community Based Grant Initiative (CBGI) and from other grant-making entities.
