The Friday Institute offers a premiere event space for educators, administrators and education leaders.

Host your event at the Friday Institute

The Friday Institute accepts meeting room reservations for Friday Institute and College of Education projects up to eight months in advance. Reservations for all other events are accepted beginning six months prior to the requested date.

Hours of Operation

Our facility is available to rent 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Hours include setup and breakdown time.

As a general rule, we do NOT host weekend or after-hours events. After-hours requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If approved, an additional fee of $200 will be applied to cover the costs of after-hours staffing and housekeeping.

What to Expect

Our event space is managed by a small team responsible for scheduling, setup and AV support. Resources to ensure a successful event—including packets, photos and floor plans—are available on this website and in our Event Packet. The event host is responsible for all event logistics, including coordinating speakers, schedules, catering, transportation and providing final event details to the Friday Institute staff.

Our Event Services (click to expand)

  • Event Review: We review event request forms within five business days (response times may vary during high-activity periods).
  • Room Reservation and Confirmation: We will reserve your room and send the room rental confirmation.
  • Final Confirmation: One to two weeks before your event, we will confirm the headcount, schedule, room setup and AV needs. This confirmation is the final opportunity to make major adjustments. Any major adjustments made after Final Confirmation may be subject to additional fees.
  • Day-of Event Support: A staff member will meet you on-site to ensure all requirements are met and an AV technician will be available as a day-of resource to assist with connecting and troubleshooting from their office near the event space.
  • Parking: Parking is free and located directly outside the facility. Please note that our parking lot is shared with Centennial Campus Magnet Middle School and can become inaccessible between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. due to carpool.
  • Billing: We will send the final invoice after the event has taken place, with payment due by a check* within 30 days.
    *NC State departments will be billed via IDT (We do not accept ledger 5 accounts for payment).

Rental Rates

Rental fees* are a flat rate per day and include the room, furniture setup, in-room AV, NC State Guest WiFi access and onsite AV tech support for the day of your event.

Four small conference rooms are also available to rent at $125 each per day.

*Rental fees are waived for projects officially housed within the Friday Institute and NC State College of Education. Projects led by Friday Institute or College of Education faculty or staff in partnership with external groups will be subject to rental fees, as they are not classified as internal projects.

  • NC State: NC State departments/units outside of the FI/CED will receive the discounted NC State rate. To confirm the reservation, a project ID and the accountant’s contact information will be required. Please note that your department will only be charged after the event concludes.
  • External: The standard rate applies to any event group that is not affiliated with an NC State department/unit.
