Program Summary

The North Carolina Mathematics and Science Education Network Pre-College Program (NC-MSEN PCP) at North Carolina State University (NCSU) has provided STEM enrichment to underserved middle and high school students for over 38 years. Each year, the program develops a summer academic program to provide STEM exposure and enrichment to students who live in central North Carolina.

MSEN is excited to offer 2 one-week 2024 Summer Scholars STEM Camps.

Now accepting applications for current 6th – 11th grade students. Apply now.

June 17 – 21, 2024 – Math Camp

This summer, the program will provide an exciting opportunity for students to prepare for their next school year’s math class. Mathematics is the gatekeeper to four-year college admissions and STEM careers such as computer science, engineering, physical and natural sciences as well as statistics. Research studies have shown that greater success in upper level mathematic courses (Math 4, pre-calculus and calculus) result in greater success in four-year university study. The MSEN program will provide a camp that will prepare students for their fall math course. All instructors are licensed and highly experienced high school mathematics teachers who have successfully taught all the major high school math courses.  This camp will help students who are preparing to enroll in Math 1, Math 2, Math 3, Math 4, AP Pre-calculus, or AP Calculus in the fall.

June 24 – 28, 2024 – Advanced Manufacturing: A Better Tomorrow Camp

For the past 38 years, the NC-MSEN Pre-College Program has provided STEM enrichment and college preparation for underserved students in grades six through twelve.  The program provides year-round engagement through a variety of Saturday and summer programs. This summer, the program will provide an exciting opportunity for students to learn about manufacturing advanced engineering and data science through a one-week summer camp. Students will learn how mathematics, statistics, science, and communications apply to the engineering environment. Students will also learn about the NC State University Industrial Engineering Department as well as the university’s admissions standards.  Finally, students will learn about the university campus through campus tours and lunch daily in one of its dining halls.
