MSEN & the College of Textiles – The Science of Textiles: From Everyday Fabrics to Medical Innovation

Program Summary

The NC-MSEN Pre-College Program, in partnership with the NC State Wilson College of Textiles, invites students to explore how the fabrics we wear every day connect directly to groundbreaking, life-saving medical technologies. Campers will investigate how chemistry, engineering, and technology come together to create high-performance fabrics that improve and protect human health.

Campers will tour cutting-edge facilities, participate in hands-on lab experiences to test and identify fibers, and tackle a team-based engineering design challenge to improve a real-world medical textile product. 

This is more than a camp—it’s an opportunity to ignite curiosity, build confidence in STEM, and see firsthand how textile science is shaping the future of healthcare.

MSEN STEM on the Move Camp

July 6 – 10, 2026

Program Summary

MSEN Summer Scholars 2026 is mixing it up with “STEM on the Move”, turning curiosity into confidence and big ideas into real-world impact! Students will explore Biology, Chemistry, and Physics through the exciting lens of artificial intelligence (AI), bringing STEM concepts to life with hands-on, student-led projects.

Campers will enjoy participating in field trips, connecting with STEM professionals, and using AI tools to solve real-world problems—all while exploring their interests. Students will also gain early insight into NC State University’s admission standards, helping them envision their future in STEM.

Fun, inspiring, and future-focused—STEM on the Move is a summer experience your child won’t forget! 

Who Should Apply

Both camps are open to all current 6th through 11th-grade students interested in STEM.

Food

Lunch is included in the camp price for both camps. Students will eat lunch daily in one of the campus dining halls. All dietary needs will be met through the campus dining hall.

Materials and Supplies

All materials and supplies are included in our camp price.

Camp Hours

Both camps will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday – Friday.

Camp Price

$175 per camp for MSEN students & $275 per camp for non-MSEN students

Main Campus and Centennial Campus of NC State University.

How to Apply

Applying for summer camps and activities is a multi-step process. This allows our staff to review each participant’s eligibility and ensure that all applicable scholarships are awarded correctly. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received.

Step 1: Submit Your Application

Click the Application Link to begin.

• Account Required: You must use a Parent Brickyard Account to apply.
  • Existing Users: If you already have an NC State Brickyard account, please log in with your existing credentials. If you have forgotten your password, use the “Forgot Password” link on the login page to reset it.
• Save Your Progress: Click Save Draft at any time. Simply log back in with your parent account later to resume and submit your application. Please note that draft applications not submitted will not be considered.
• Confirmation: You will receive an email confirmation immediately upon submission.
• Submission Deadline: Please ensure your application is submitted by [Insert Date Here].

Step 2: Application Review

Once submitted, our staff will review your application. After the evaluation is complete, you will receive an email notification with detailed instructions on how to finalize your enrollment.

Step 3: Registration & Payment

Once your application is approved, follow these steps to secure your spot:

Finalize: Complete the required forms, accept the payment policies, and click Proceed to Order Summary to check out and confirm enrollment. Please read the following information before completing the registration/application:

Log In: Access your REPORTER Dashboard using your Parent Brickyard Account.

Navigate: Select the Youth Activities tile.

Add to Cart: Locate the Approved Applications section and click Add to Cart next to your child’s camp activity.

Review Fees: Any applicable scholarships or discounts will be automatically reflected in your cart total at the bottom of the screen.
