The New Literacies Collaborative (NLC) conducts translational research, creates professional learning experiences, and designs learner-centered instructional resources grounded in the theoretical and practical intersections of literacies, digital technologies, and global competence. Working alongside educators and students from a wide range of backgrounds, we develop, study, and expand new literacies’ innovations throughout North Carolina and around the world.
During the 2024-25 school year, the New Literacies Collaborative, including Marie Himes and Amy Walter, supported capacity-building efforts for Project-Based Inquiry (PBI) with ~50 educators from Centennial Campus Magnet Middle School (CCMMS | Raleigh, NC, USA). CCMMS educators’ efforts led to the implementation of glocally-focused, interdisciplinary, grade-level inquiry projects with sixth through eighth graders at the school.
“Over the past five years, I have watched my teacher team grow and, in turn, watched them grow our students as a result of our ongoing partnership and fellowship with the New Literacies Collaborative.”
